Position: School Social Worker

Hours per Day: 7 hours

Qualifications Required:
- Master’s degree in social work.
- Must have a School Social Worker certification and MSW 310.
- Preference will be given to applicants with five (5) years of work experience with children, families, and school systems.
- Experience with Positive Behavior Support Systems, Instructional Supports, and Response to Intervention/MTSS.
- Evidence of successful experience in student/parent relations.
- Successful experience in serving an urban population and working with clients of various ethnic background.
- Ability to develop a professional relationship with clients.
- Demonstrate knowledge and implementation of various treatment methods, including family therapy.
- Knowledge of the medical model social work services, including familiarity with community resources for medically fragile children and their families.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule which includes some community and parent meetings in the evenings.
- Ability to conduct functional behavioral assessments and behavioral intervention plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Maintain caseload of at-risk learners to provide support and behavioral interventions leading to academic success.
- Conduct group sessions with students in both a special ed and general ed setting who have common problems which impede their ability to be successful, (i.e. anger management, coping skills, etc.).
- Knowledgeable of a variety of community resources and work with individual students to identify those community resources necessary to their success at school.
- Assist families with finding necessary resources.
- Monitor students’ data to demonstrate growth.
- Develop and monitor goals for students and the criteria for success.
- Communicate individual plans for students to staff to facilitate a whole school approach to student improvement.
- Work in collaboration with school administration to address the needs of our most at-risk learners, with the focus on improving academics.
